Rochester metal artist, Craig Wilson, is best known for his steel sculptures of wildlife—fish, birds and the occasional giant grasshopper. Throughout his life, he has pursued many creative directions, including rustic furniture, chainsaw carving, wood sculpture and a long career as 3D designer and fabricator in Exhibits at the Strong National Museum of Play.
When he returned to sculpting full-time, Craig returned to metal. He creates in welded steel and, most recently, has become fascinated with metal parts. Old tools and their components can be recycled and combined to form faces and one of a kind pieces of art!
The process is addictive and surprisingly joyful, as each new personality emerges. Craig lives in Irondequoit, a suburb of Rochester NY, and can be found on Facebook at Craig Wilson Wildlife Sculpture.
